1. Overview

MyBoatOS sends transactional SMS for two distinct audiences:

(a) Operator personas — operators, captains, and crew using authenticated MyBoatOS workflows. Messages cover assignments, schedule changes, trip operations, and critical alerts. Opt-in occurs in-product during onboarding and settings.

(b) Charter guests — individuals who book a charter through an operator's MyBoatOS-powered booking portal. Messages cover booking confirmations, pre-charter portal links, pre-charter reminders, and post-charter follow-up. Opt-in occurs at the point of phone-number capture in the operator's booking form, with an explicit consent disclosure linked to this page.

All MyBoatOS SMS is transactional. We do not send promotional or marketing SMS.

2. Opt-in Process

The active opt-in flow is inside authenticated user onboarding and settings. Users provide or confirm mobile numbers and explicitly consent to SMS in-product.

  • SMS preferences and consent: `/settings/notifications`

(b) Guest opt-in process:

  • Guest visits an operator's public booking portal (e.g. www.myboatos.com/book/[operator-slug]).
  • Guest provides a mobile phone number when submitting a charter request.
  • The phone-input field on the booking form carries this disclosure verbatim: "By providing your phone number, you agree to receive operational text messages about your charter booking from your operator via MyBoatOS. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies."
  • Submission of the form constitutes consent for the booking-related SMS program scope.
  • Guests can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

3. Example Messages

Operator-persona examples:

  • “MyBoatOS: Crew assignment updated for tomorrow's trip. Open the app for details. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “MyBoatOS: Schedule change — trip check-in moved to 9:30 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “MyBoatOS: Operational alert. Review trip instructions in MyBoatOS. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Guest examples:

  • “MyBoatOS: Your charter aboard La Ondina is confirmed for Sat May 4 at 10:00 AM. Pre-trip details: [portal link]. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “MyBoatOS: Reminder — your charter is tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Marina address and captain contact: [portal link]. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “MyBoatOS: Thanks for choosing La Ondina. Trip recap and feedback: [portal link]. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Brand prefix is always “MyBoatOS” or “MyBoatOS via [Operator Name]” so recipients can identify the sender.

4. Opt-out

Reply STOP to opt out at any time.

Reply HELP for assistance.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

STOP auto-reply (sent verbatim):
"You have opted out of MyBoatOS SMS. No further messages will be sent. Reply START to resubscribe. For help: support@myboatos.com."

HELP auto-reply (sent verbatim):

5. Privacy

Mobile data — including operator-persona phones and guest phones captured at booking — is used only for the SMS programs described in §1. We do not share, sell, or rent phone numbers to any third party for marketing purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent records are never shared with any third party.
